Some of the most important things to consider during our daily online activities are that our computers are well protected, at that they are stabile and of course that there are no issues in terms of performance and security.
In order to ensure it is possible to fulfill these requirements, it is crucial that your computer has the proper tools in order to provide these things.
Let us take a closer look at Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1, and see why this software provides you with exactly those tools needed to keep your computer in optimal state, during your daily online browsing.
In the picture above, we are looking at Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 main screen. As you can see it has a nice user interface, it provides you the exactly the needed information in a simplistic and clean way. This is something I really enjoy about this software; you do not drown in huge amount of various and unneeded details here.
It quickly shows you what kinds of security mechanisms that currently are enabled and active.
It offers you to do a scan with a click of a single button. Lastly it shows you when the last update was executed, remaining time in license information, as well as direct links to support.
Really, cool to have those options available in a simplistic way, which provides a clear overview about all-important things in one single window.
How about the booting time of the computer and normal use?
I have not noticed any slowdowns in my computer after installing Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1. No noticeable delay in the boot up of the computer, as well as the system is responsive exactly as before installing this software.
I used a Lenovo z560 Intel I5 processor to test this product, with a 240GB Intel 520 SSD drive and 4 GB of ram, and Windows 7 as operating system.
Conflicts with other Anti-Virus programs and Malware Protection software?
Even though I have Eset Smart Security 7 and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware installed simultaneously with Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1, I have not noticed any conflicts or slowdown in general performance and normal use of the computer.
I would like to point out that Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 actually provides updates much faster and more frequently than MalwareBytes Anti-Malware does.
My personal reason for having additional protection installed is that I prefer to have a ‘second opinion’, hence, it is unnecessary to have two-malware detection software installed.
Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 actually does the job flawlessly alone.
I have noticed that the detection rate of malicious files is extremely high, compared to other products on the marked, and it triggers instantly if there is a malicious files on your system.
Especially the performance speed during scans are worth a closer look, which is something I would like to demonstrate more detailed.
In other words, Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 really delivers state of the art protection mechanisms.
A pure quality product, which will become much clearer during this review.
Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 and scanning the computer:
As shown in the picture (marked with green), Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 offers to do a ‘smart scan’:
Once again a very simplistic menu, showing you different options. Emisoft has done a remarkable job in their design of the user interface.
It signals trustworthiness using royal conservative colors in a modern perspective. A king doing his job with excellence and flawless precision.
Notice the different scan options in the menu above. Very clever designed, so that the end users can select the preferred scan-type depending on the exact situation.
Let us try to do a ‘smart scan’ of my computer:
Again a simplistic user interface, showing you exactly the needed information only.
You are able to see how far the global scanning process currently are in the status bar. It also shows how many objects it has scanned, and how many it has found marked as malware and removed.
During this scan, there are no noticeable slowdown of my computer, and it is responsive all the time during the scanning. Now this is something very important to observe – No impact of the system during the scan.
You can minimize the scanning screen during this scan, and it will continue running in the background.
Approximately 20 minutes later Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 has completed its ‘smart scan’:
It shows that no suspicious files where found during the scan, and how many objects were scanned.
In my case, 305771 objects were scanned in 20 min.
One thing I really like is that it offers a report.
As shown below the exact scan time: Scan time 0:17:21
Let’s take a look at that report:

Configuration of Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1:
Again, we see an extremely well organized menu screen, offering exactly the needed options in a simplistic and clean way.
First is of course the language settings, which is an extremely important option for all users.
Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 offers a broad selection of language options; unfortunately, it does not cover Danish and Norwegian among others. I hope Emisoft will include more language choices in the future. However, downloading new available languages are possible during daily updates.
One feature I really like about the Guard Settings is the option to enable ‘Captcha’ during program shutdown. A clever security option, to ensure the guard protection isn’t’ shut down accidently.
That mean is I try to close down Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1, it will ask me to confirm my command:
This is an extra security feature I find great to have, to ensure your computer is not un-protected by accident. That would be a serious security flaw, if the program were so easy to close down in my point of view.
Another important thing to notice about the Guard Settings is the option to enable or disable Guard on system startup.
On top of that, it is also possible to include active mail scanning.
This function seems to be limited though to cover only MS Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013. It would surely make sense to cover MS Live Mail and other major email clients as well.
Now I will not go through the entire configuration options of Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1, however I would like to point a few central key points more:
If more users are sharing the same computer, it is crucial to ensure only those who have the proper permissions to change vital functions are allowed to do so.
Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 offers to make use of such permission settings:
I will point out a few more key points that makes Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 a good choice for protecting your computer against malware:
– Option to speed up downloads of uploads, using more threads
– Option to select the update frequency i.e. monthly, weekly or daily
– Option to use Explorer integration to scan files in windows context menu
– Advanced settings for automatic scheduled scanning’s
– Multiple choices for notification options
– Option to use beta releases
– Easy replacement of new license
– Advanced rules for Surf Protection, Behavior Blocker among other features.
Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 really offers serious protection of your computer. The program is very easy to configure because of a well-designed user interface, using a simplistic pattern in all windows and tabs.
The detection rate of malware are the best one on the marked, and it really discovers any malicious files on the fly.
The price for 1 years full license with full updates, makes this software a strong trendsetter on the marked for anti-malware software.
My personal rating of Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 looks like this:
User Interface and user friendliness: 10/10
Performance and detection rate: 10/10
Emisoft Anti-Malware 8.1 is a quality product and surely a heavyweight on the marked for Anti-Malware products.
When I only give nine out of 10 in the category price, it is because I personally think this product also should be possible to obtain as lifetime license too.
The price for 1 year with full updates are completely acceptable – but it would make sense to offer a lifetime license choice too.
